That title may be a bit of an overstatement–I don’t believe the kittens are Roman Catholics and they are definitely not in monastic vows, but they are about six weeks old, weaned, eating solid food AND they are very available. They were born outside, near the kitchen and we–and their mother–are looking for new homes for them.
There are five of them: one ginger male, one grey stripped female, one grey and white female, and two females with their mother’s calico white, grey and ginger coat. They are very friendly and well adjusted to human contact. We will soon have their photos posted on this site.
If you are interested in providing a home, please contact Carol, Monday through Friday, during work hours at 540-955-4383 or email her at information@hcava.org

Charles Stevenson says
When I first started visiting the abbey, there were cats hanging out around the store; there was even a photo of one who had planted themself in the road to the enclosure, staring at the camera! Then the cats disappeared.
Are these kittens descendants from that era? Do they signal, perhaps, a return of cats to the life of the place and its people?
