I hope this doesn’t seem like Christmas decorations going up the day after Hallowe’en but we know many of you already want to plan your Advent and New Year retreats with us.
The first couple of weeks of December bring no surprises and there are still plenty of rooms available. But things get interesting after the Fourth Sunday of Advent, 18 December. We then have a “short week”, Monday, 19 December through Wednesday morning, 21 December. There are no retreat days during Christmas itself. This allows our staff time for their only holiday preparations, as well as getting caught up cleaning and repairs at the Retreat House itself.
We then reopen with a schedule rather like Holy Week, Wednesday through Sunday, 28 December (Holy Innocents) through 1 January (Solemnity of Mary/New Year’s). That could be a wonderful way to celebrate Christmastide and attend the special liturgies of the season.
