During this week I will be observing my annual retreat in solitude; as a result there will be no new posts on the site until I return next Sunday. I realize that the number of posts have slowed down in the past few months. Apart from the usual heavy schedule, I was also dealing with some serious health issues which, happily, are being resolved. I’m very grateful to good and conscientious doctors who motivated me to take precautions.
But this also means that I need to work at less demanding pace which is why I’m taking time out right now. For quite a few years I would come to the Offices while I was on my retreat; too much solitude can be too much for me. But this year, I seem to need the break in schedule to disrupt my routine and shake out some new strategies.
We’ll see what pace this website takes when I get back.

Father James,
I pray that any comfort that happened on your retreat will linger into the remaining summer months.
We are grateful for all you do for HCA and for us who see God’s grace at work in you.
