THE SUNDAY REOPENING OF OUR GIFT SHOP AND PORTER’S LODGE went off smoothly and guests and Sunday visitors expressed their deep appreciation for its reopening. We (that is, the monks) are still familiarizing ourselves with the new cash register and some of the merchandise that has been in storage is still not back on the shelves. However, shelves continue being restocked and in the next few weeks we will begin acquiring new merchandise—especially books and greeting cards. Once again we thank for your patience over these last three months of renovation and are most grateful for your continued support of the Gift Shop and Holy Cross Abbey.

Yet once again I’m deeply impressed and moved by your active engagement in the “outside” world, and by the many ways you welcome us. What a marvelous expression of your charism. Thank you. May your exertions continue to inspire our own, and illuminate this world in need.
Sure, an’ how might the cats be doing?

The gift/book shop is a greatly appreciated aspect of your ministry. I’ve happened upon some books there that I hadn’t seen elsewhere and which turned out to be very important resources for me. There are times when a book becomes an important complement to one’s retreat time, is found while one has the time and space to reflect. Thank you so much for continuing to offer this wonderful opportunity on the monastery grounds. Blessings to all!

I will see you the Sunday after Easter, when the choir is off. God Bless you, my brothers!

I was so happy to see you Sunday and to be greeted warmly by Brother Joseph. I love to purchase food and books in your shop to give as gifts to friends and relatives who appreciate the meaning behind the creation of these items. Thank you for allowing us into your blessed space.
