The community Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Fr. Vincent Collins presiding and preaching; this Sunday’s Introit sings, “You heavens, shower dew from above, you clouds rain down the just One”. At Vespers on 21 December we sing the solemn Magnificat Antiphon, “O Radiant Dawn” the peak of the seven antiphons preceding the Christmas Office. Christ, the radiant dawn of the new creation, is lauded on the darkest day of the year, our hope in the valley of tears and shadow of death. This year that antiphon happily coincides with the meteorological winter solstice, the shortest day of the year.
Benediction of the most blessed Sacrament will follow Vespers (5:30 PM).
