We received the sad news this morning that Fr. Edmund Flynn died at 11:30 AM. This past week he had come out of intensive care at Providence Hospital and seemed to be doing better but he took an unexpected turn for the worse. The hospital chaplain and his social worker were with him at his passing. May he rest in peace.

I last dropped into Carroll Manor to visit Fr. Edmond, unannounced, about a month ago. When I got there, there were several visitors in his room, all women! One looked up, waved and called out, “We went to high school together!” Fr. Edmond looked up — the happiest monk I have ever seen! I left, waiting to return at an opportune moment — which will now occur in heaven!
May he rest in peace!

My family has been visiting Father at the Abby since I was a little girl. I can remember at a very young age running through the corn fields & playing in the barn, while my parents visited with father. My children and their cousins have played on the property for years, while we spent some family time with Father. My granddaughter was lucky enough to experience the tranquility of the Abby, while getting to know Father Edmond before he moved to Carroll Manor. My mother, sister, granddaughter and I had a wonderful visit with him about a month ago. We were able to share stories about their childhood friends, as well as Father’s brother and parents. He will be truly missed. Rest in peace

I have been going to the Abby to visit Father Edmond for over 30 years. He was the kindest and most gentle man I have ever known. We will miss him greatly.

Got the sad news this morning when I stopped by Carroll Manor. I can hear Fr Edmund now telling me I have to do a better job checking the website!
He was sharp and upbeat during our last, or rather most recent visit, a month ago. As always, we finished with a priestly blessing that concluded: “may we have the grace to do the Lord’s will, even when it is something we don’t want to do.”
Staff at Carroll really loved him. Activites director Charita Jones talked about what a positive, upbeat influenced he was – especially when he came down to the office to check his email or headed down early for 11 am mass.
Go Irish!
R.I.P., Fr Edmund…
