Please remember in your prayers Br. Barnabas whose health has taken a bad turn. Br. Barnabas and the community have been aware for a few week of his precarious condition and he has been in a good frame of mind, ready to accept whatever comes. A couple of Sundays ago, when Abbot Robert and Br. Joseph Vantu went to Carroll Manor to pray at Br. Stephen’s bedside, Br. Barnabas was there with them. Abbot Robert, who is presently at our Abbey in Mepkin, South Carolina for a Meeting of our Abbots and Abbesses, has been informed.
Greg Rohrman says
Br. Barnabas was a friend, and teaching colleague before he joined the monastery, and a spiritual advisor afterward. On my first retreat to Holy Cross he made time to meet with me and counsel with me. Over the years we wrote and emailed and his advice and wisdom were always helpful. Please let him know that he is in my thoughts and prayers.

Brother Barnabas and I were teaching colleagues and fellow Explorers (from La Salle College High School) and I know him as a good and cheerful fellow. I will keep in my prayers.
John Sowa says
Br. Barnabas and I were teaching colleagues in years past. He has long been a friend separated by distance but yet memorable and inspiring.

Brother Barnabas is from Philly as I am also. I always enjoyed our conversations when I would be at Holy Cross for retreat or for a visit. It is sad to hear of his illness and I am keeping him in prayer. I’m a missionary in Alaska now but I do try to visit Holy Cross when I come east for a visit. Father Vincent wrote to me about Brother Stephen and Brother Barnabas . I am so grateful that he took the time to write and let me know about them.
I always treasure my retreats at Holy Cross and hope to be able to make retreat there again . The presence of the Lord is always close there and the peacefulness that you feel is so wonderful. Both these Brothers have shared the presence of Christ with me and I am so grateful. Thomas Merton said”The person you are is the Christ you bring to others”. Thank you for bringing Christ to me Brother Barnabas and Brother Stephen.
