Br. Edward is being released from Hospice care this week. It’s not his choice–he’s benefited so much from their care and has appreciated their visits. But his health has improved so much from last March, when we needed to call Hospice in, that he no longer qualifies for Hospice Care. Instead, they will be contacting the county’s Social Services to provide for some of his needs.
The community has been no small part of this improvement, every day helping out with his dietary needs, bringing him his meals, visiting with him, cleaning his room. This attention, too, has contributed to Br. Ed’s improvement, even at 92 years old.
That said, a special thanks to the nurses from Hospice, especially Nelia and Raleigh who had devotedly served Br. Benedict and Fr. Paschal in past years. They are practically part of the family.
