Pope Francis has called for a day of prayer and fasting, today, 7 September, for peace in Syria and the Middle East.
This morning we celebrated the Mass of Our lady, the Queen of Peace, at the Abbey. As Abbot Robert instructed, we are treating today “as on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, with bread and water for our dinner. Each one is to pray according to his particular grace, as we unite ourselves with Pope Francis and all who are joined in seeking a peaceful resolution to the present agony of the Middle East peoples.”
