Not only will twelve men ranging in ages from 35-76 come to Holy Cross Abbey this weekend for Monastic Immersion Weekend #3 but we will celebrate Holy Cross Day, Saturday the 14th and a two new novices will join the community!
For the MIW participants, as in the past, the 48 hours of ‘immersion’ will see the men in choir, taking conferences from monks and a nun from Crozet and generally living the life of a Trappist monk. Four men are returning MIWers (is that a word?) and eight will be here for the first time for an MIW.
Then on Saturday James and David will enter the novitiate and begin their year long journeys to first vows! Pray for James and David. And continue to pray for vocations. (BTW, two of the men attending the MIW are also discerning a vocation with us.)
Several more men will take their observership (90 days living in community) in the next few months in preparation for joining us soon thereafter. (Our Order requires those wishing to enter the community to go home after their 90 days in community to truly test the vocation.) In all we have 6 men in various stages of discernment about to take the steps to join our community. Pray for all of them and all men and women who are discerning their vocation.
And then come see us soon at the new Holy Cross Abbey-
PLEASE NOTE THAT SINCE SATURDAY IS A FEAST DAY WE WILL FOLLOW THE SUNDAY SCHEDULE WITH MASS AT 11 AM.
