The sound in choir this evening, with eleven additional voices from the Monastic Immersion Weekend, was glorious. It filled our small church and made me wonder if this was a sign of something we would see soon at Holy Cross Abbey everyday. Brothers David and Aelred (because we already have a priest in the community named James, the new postulant of the same name was asked to choose another; he chose Aelred Joseph) have joined the community and Aelred especially adds much to our music because of his training and voice. Fr. James, who carries our music all by himself (none of us can figure out how he doesn’t just collapse from all he does around here) will soon have someone to help with the chant and song.
But the other voices also seem to show us a sign of the future. With four more men (and two more in the MIW class) in various stages of discernment, the future looks bright for Our Lady of the Holy Cross. Pray for those discerning and pray for vocations.
Then come visit soon and see the new Our Lady of the Holy Cross for yourself?
