From Monday, 5 November through Friday, 9 November, six superiors or our Eastern Monastery will meet at the Abbey’s Retreat House for Pastoral Sharing.
What is Pastoral Sharing? It is the opportunity for those in leadership to meet, talk about the challenges, the state of their community, what has worked, what could be done better as our monasteries try to live our vocation and respond to the changing conditions of our society. It is an opportunity to give mutual support and aid in concrete situations. In the long run, if indirectly, such meetings help the superiors to prepare for the General Chapter of all the Abbots and Abbesses of our Order. How? Such meetings identify the current agenda faced by our communities–our needs and our strengths. It is an inportant frame of reference to guide legislation, norms for formation and so forth.
