Recently we announced our new Sustainers Program in the Spring newsletter. This program, for donors who make their gifts through their credit or debit card or pledge a gift on a regular basis, helps us know just how much income we will have each month from contributions. As with any nonprofit, we live and die by our ability to get our friends to support us. And so far you have responded well! Many of our friends have become Sustainers.
Giving by debit or credit card is an easy way for you to make a good size gift over an entire year and not feel it quite so much. If you pledge just $50 a month (about the same as some of us spend on our morning coffee over the course of 30 days) you will at the end of the year have provided $600! $100 a month means $1200…Here’s what we can do with a gift of this size:
* For $600 we can cover the expenses for three men coming to the monastery to test the life during one of our Monastic Immersion Weekends; for $1200, obviously we can cover six men;
* For $600 we can begin some needed repairs in the bathroom in our Northwest dormitory; for $1200 we can go a long way toward completing those repairs;
* We can help pay some medical costs for one of our aging monks;
* We can add to the building fund we are developing to begin work on the outside of the monastery and inside of the church…
